Understand the scoring & data coverage

First, filter by region and minimum population and exclude records missing any of the five indicators. Within this eligible group, each value receives an average percentile rank from 0 to 100. Ties share a score. A single eligible market receives a neutral score of 50.

Market Size = 50% GDP percentile + 50% population percentile. Overall Expansion Score = the sum of each component score multiplied by its importance weight ÷ 100. Higher is better. Exact ties are ordered alphabetically. Scores are relative to your selected markets, not absolute measures of investment quality.

Data uses the latest available observation in the current year and five preceding years.

World Bank country metadata excludes aggregate entities. Individual economies, including separately reported territories, are included. The “Middle East & North Africa” filter uses the World Bank’s current region classification, which also includes Afghanistan and Pakistan.
